Sedation Dentistry
Relax in the Dental Chair With Sedation Dentistry
Dental phobia, or fear of the dentist, is very real for some people. If you don’t find a way to overcome fear of going to the dentist, your oral health and subsequent overall health could suffer.
At the Mishawaka, IN dental office of Dr. George A. Mighion, we’ve found that sedation dentistry can work exceptionally well in helping patients feel more at ease about their appointment for dental procedures. Oral sedation is a great option for a variety of dental treatments and Dr. Mighion would be happy to help you explore this option and determine a solution to help you feel more comfortable in the dental chair.
About Sedation Dentistry
Laughing gas (nitrous oxide), oral conscious sedation medication, and full sedation are options some people might want to consider. We offer Nitrous Oxide for most cases and where needed, can increase the affects by adding oral conscious sedation. We always make recommendations based on your unique situation.
Medical history and the type of procedure to be done are taken into account when a dentist determines your eligibility for sedation dentistry. Sedation nitrous is for any age, but OCS is for patients 18 or older. If you are a good candidate and nitrous oxide doesn’t feel strong enough for you, an oral sedative can help make your appointment much more relaxing. When oral sedation is used, you will need someone to bring you to and from your dental appointment. After the appointment you will go home and sleep off the effect of the anesthetic.
